Our Philosophy

A new approach to skincare and aesthetics, rooted in science and guided by empathy

Dr. Masimba Gwatsha

Dr. Masimba Gwatsha

MBBS, BSc (Hons)

“We don’t fix what’s broken. We illuminate what was always there.”

Founded by Dr. Masimba Gwatsha, Lumière is built on over a decade of experience in medicine. With 10 years working across multiple disciplines, from endocrinology and internal medicine to clinical aesthetics, Dr. Gwatsha brings a depth of medical understanding that most aesthetic practitioners simply cannot offer.

That multidisciplinary background shapes everything we do here. Understanding how the body works from the inside out means safer treatments, better results, and a holistic view of your wellbeing. This is not just aesthetics. This is medicine practised with intention.

Our approach, Transformative Conscious Care, recognises that skin tells stories. Stories of stress, of resilience, of healing. We listen to those stories before we ever reach for a treatment.

Based in Milton Keynes, Lumière offers a sanctuary where clinical precision meets genuine human warmth. Every consultation is an act of recognition, every treatment a collaboration.

Truth over Comfort

We provide honest, evidence-based guidance, even when the answer is patience rather than intervention.

Recognition without Distortion

We enhance what exists naturally. Our work celebrates your unique structure, never imposing a template.

Self-reclamation through Service

Every treatment is an opportunity for you to reconnect with yourself, not an escape from who you are.

Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers to help you feel informed and confident before your visit

Every consultation at Lumiere begins with a genuine conversation. We take time to understand your concerns, your goals, and your medical history before recommending anything. There is no pressure to proceed with treatment on the same day. Think of it as a space to ask questions, explore options, and decide what feels right for you.

Most healthy adults over 18 are suitable candidates. During your consultation, we assess your medical history, skin condition, and expectations to make sure any treatment is safe and appropriate for you. Certain conditions, medications, or allergies may mean we advise against specific procedures, and we will always be transparent about that.

No referral is needed. You can book a consultation directly with us. However, if you have any underlying medical conditions, we may recommend liaising with your GP as part of our duty of care.

Aesthetic treatments are medical procedures. Having a GMC-registered doctor with over a decade of clinical experience means your safety comes first. Dr. Gwatsha's background in endocrinology and internal medicine provides a deeper understanding of how the body works from the inside out, which translates to safer treatments, better outcomes, and the ability to manage any complications swiftly and effectively.

Anti-wrinkle injections use a purified protein (botulinum toxin) to temporarily relax specific facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. Common treatment areas include the forehead, frown lines between the brows, and crow's feet around the eyes. The result is smoother, more relaxed skin that still allows natural facial expression when performed with care and precision.

Dermal fillers are injectable gels, most commonly made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the skin. They restore lost volume, enhance contours, and soften deeper lines. Popular areas include the lips, cheeks, jawline, chin, and nasolabial folds. Results are visible immediately and can be tailored to achieve subtle or more defined outcomes depending on your preference.

Most clients describe the sensation as a small pinch or mild pressure. For anti-wrinkle treatments, the needles are very fine and the discomfort is minimal. For dermal fillers, we use topical numbing cream before treatment and most fillers also contain a local anaesthetic within the product itself. We always work at your pace and prioritise your comfort throughout.

Anti-wrinkle injections typically take around 15 to 20 minutes. Dermal filler appointments usually take 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the areas being treated. Your first visit will be longer as we include a thorough consultation before any treatment begins.

Common side effects are mild and temporary. These may include slight redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising at the injection site, which typically resolves within a few days. Less common side effects for anti-wrinkle treatments can include temporary headache or slight asymmetry. For fillers, there is a small risk of lumps, unevenness, or migration, though these are minimised through proper technique. Serious complications such as vascular occlusion are rare but we are fully trained and equipped to manage them immediately.

Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This is one of the key reasons we use HA-based fillers. If you are unhappy with your results or if a complication arises, we can reverse the treatment. We always keep hyaluronidase on hand as part of our safety protocol.

We would advise against treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection in the treatment area, have a known allergy to any of the product ingredients, or have certain neuromuscular conditions. Some medications, particularly blood thinners, may increase the risk of bruising. We review all of this carefully during your consultation.

After anti-wrinkle injections, avoid touching or rubbing the treated area for at least 4 hours. Stay upright and avoid lying flat during this time. Skip intense exercise for 24 hours and avoid excessive heat such as saunas or steam rooms. You can return to your normal daily activities straight away. We will provide you with a full aftercare guide at your appointment.

Avoid applying makeup over the injection sites for at least 12 hours. Steer clear of intense exercise, alcohol, and excessive sun or heat for 24 to 48 hours. Some swelling and tenderness is normal and typically subsides within a few days. Applying a cool compress can help reduce swelling. Avoid pressing or massaging the treated area unless specifically instructed to do so. We will give you detailed aftercare instructions tailored to your treatment.

There is minimal to no downtime for most injectable treatments. You can typically return to work and daily activities the same day. Some clients experience mild swelling or bruising which can be covered with makeup after the initial 12 hours. We always recommend scheduling your appointment a week or two before any big event, just to allow for any minor settling.

Results typically last between 3 to 4 months, though this can vary from person to person. With regular treatments, many clients find the effects last longer over time as the targeted muscles gradually become less active. You will begin to notice the effects within 3 to 5 days, with full results visible at around 2 weeks.

Depending on the type of filler and the area treated, results typically last between 6 to 18 months. Lip fillers tend to be on the shorter end at around 6 to 9 months, while cheek and jawline fillers can last up to 12 to 18 months. Your body gradually and naturally breaks down the hyaluronic acid over time. Top-up treatments can maintain your results.

Absolutely. Our philosophy is recognition over correction. We enhance what is already there rather than trying to change who you are. The goal is always for you to look like yourself, just refreshed and revitalised. We take a conservative approach and build gradually, because the best results are the ones that no one can quite put their finger on.

Your satisfaction matters to us. We offer a complimentary follow-up appointment 2 weeks after treatment to review your results and make any adjustments if needed. For fillers, minor refinements can often be made. If you are truly unhappy, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved. For anti-wrinkle treatments, the effects are temporary and will naturally wear off. We are always here to talk through your concerns openly and honestly.
